Botox is a non-invasive procedure that allows a person to get the result of anti-aging. Patient recovery is considered very positive and convenient. Botox injections are painless as well as the recovery process. Most people who undergo Botox do not even feel the needle enter their skin at all. If they do, it is reported that at the most it may feel like a slight insect bite. As far as recovery, there is no lying down waiting on recovery. As a Botox patient you are able to get back to your daily activities immediately following the procedure.
After Botox you may have small red blotches or bumps on your face and in very rare cases, slight swelling. The bumps can be covered easily by makeup for a couple of days to combat the appearance of the bumps and allow for healing. However, these will not leave any type of mark on your skin whatsoever. For the swelling, the doctor will probably have you hold a cold washcloth to your face immediately after the procedure to keep your injection site from swelling. There are some precautions that you may want to take prior to and after your Botox appointment. You need to wait 24 hours before you engage in strenuous activity or exercise. Also, never massage the area that you had treated with Botox. Do not lay down for at least 4-5 hours after the injections and practice facial exercises daily that your doctor will show after your procedure. Always wear sun block, even if you have not had Botox.
It is best to minimize muscle activity of the face for about a week after your procedure. You need to do facial exercises to get your face back to the normal movement that it was used to before the procedure but don’t overdo it. Sun damage will only lengthen your recovery so remember to always use sun block especially if you don’t want to end up with wrinkles.
Your Botox results will last anywhere from 3-6 months. After that you will notice that fine lines and wrinkles will start to reappear again. They won’t be as noticeable as before the procedure, though. This is when you may choose to undergo Botox again. It can be repeated again each time those fine lines start to reappear.
Botox is not made from an animal organ so the chance of infection is almost non-existent. Ninety-nine percent of patients are not allergic. This makes for an easy, non-invasive option for anti-aging. Have more questions? An Atlanta botox professional like ShapeMed can be your guide.
